Family Preservation

Family Preservation Programs help families stay together or safely reunify by offering support services, skills, and resources that strengthen the family unit.

Adoption Option Inc. Family Preservation
In 2012, AOI recognized a significant need for family preservation services for parents involved with the child welfare system. In order to address the various needs of the families, Adoption Option Inc. expanded the scope of services to include family preservation services, life skills education, and parenting time services.  Services are offered in the Great Lakes Bay Region and surrounding areas.

Adoption Option Inc. provides varying services to the families of Midland, Gladwin, Isabella, Clare, Arenac, Bay, Saginaw, Genesee, Gratiot and Shiawasee Counties.  Follow the Program Links below to learn more about each program and the services provided to families.

Available Programs

PACT – Foster Care Supportive Visitation

Parents and Children Together (PACT) is a program that strengthens family bonds through supervised parenting time in partnership with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), PACT provides a safe, structured environment for parents and children to reconnect, build trust, and work toward reunification. The program offers tailored supervision, support, and resources to help parents develop skills for ongoing, positive, involvement in their children’s lives.

Availability

  • Isabella, Gladwin, Midland, Arenac, Clare, and Saginaw Counties
  • This program requires a referral from the Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Open to Families in Isabella, Gladwin, Midland, Arenac, Clare, and Saginaw County who are experiencing Children Protective Services involvement or have children placed in Foster Care

Advanced-In-Home

Advanced in Home (AIH) is a parent education program that strengthens families through in home support. In partnership with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), AIH provides personalized services to help parents improve skills in child development, parenting, and household management. Our team offers tools, education, and ongoing support to create a stable, nurturing environment, empowering families to build a strong foundation for the future.

Availability

  • This program requires a referral from the Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Open to Families who are experiencing Children Protective Services involvement or have children placed in Foster Care

Parent Resource Education Program (PREP)

Parent Resource Education Program (PREP) is a comprehensive, home-based program and a proud Parents as Teachers affiliate. Our mission is to empower parents to be their child’s first and most important teacher. Through
personalized home visits, engaging educational resources, and connections to community support, PREP equips families with the tools they need to nurture healthy development, strengthen parent-child relationships, and prepare children for school success. Together, we help ensure both children and parents thrive during the early years and beyond.

PREP Playgroup
A fun, supportive playgroup where children and families can connect, explore, and learn through guided activities. This program also provides opportunities for parents to engage with the FPP, gaining resources, support, and community connections.

Building Community Partners (BCP)

Building Community Partners (BCP) is a program offering parent partner and advocacy services in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). BCP empowers parents by connecting them with resources, support, and guidance to navigate complex systems and advocate for their children’s well-being. Our parent advocates, with lived experience, provide mentorship to help families overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes. By fostering strong partnerships, BCP ensures families have the tools to thrive and advocate for themselves and their children.

FFPSA – Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA)

Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) is a federal legislation to allow title IV-E spending in secondary and primary prevention services. Michigan’s 5-year Prevention Plan was approved with a begin date of 10/01/2021. The federal funding offers reimbursement to the state for Evidence Based Programs.

Parents as Teachers – PAT

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a free, evidence-based home visiting program designed to support families with young children—from pregnancy through kindergarten. At Adoption Option Inc., our certified parent educators partner with caregivers to help children get a strong, healthy start in life.

Through regular home visits, we focus on:

  • Child development & school readiness – Sharing activities and guidance tailored to your child’s age and stage

  • Parent-child interaction – Strengthening the bond through play, learning, and everyday moments

  • Family well-being – Connecting you with community resources and support services

  • Developmental screenings – Monitoring milestones to ensure your child is on track

PAT is built on the belief that parents are their child’s first and most important teacher. Our goal is to empower families with knowledge, confidence, and support—so every child can thrive.
