For my I Made A Difference Moment story, I think of one family in particular. This mother had just welcomed her first child and was feeling overwhelmed. She worried she wasn’t doing enough and doubted her ability to provide the right foundation for her baby. As our staff used the Parents as Teachers curriculum with Mom, she began to see that even simple moments, such as reading at bedtime to her child and connecting with community services, were powerful ways to nurture her child’s development.
Over time, her confidence is growing. She is learning to celebrate milestones rather than fearing she isn’t “good enough.” She has told me that she feels like she knows she is doing the right things, and she isn’t alone on this journey.
That transformation, watching fear turn into confidence, is exactly why AOICWO is passionate about the Parents As Teachers curriculum and providing services to parents in the Great Lakes Bay Region with children ages birth to 6 years old.
